It has been a great three years with tblog but I have decided to finally move to a more permanent home.

This week my tblog blog was spammed and that broke the camel's back. I have since setup house on my own domain; converting that site into my blog. Sorry to my two friends who actually registered.

To all my friends and fans please update your bookmarks. My new site is located here.

As of today, I will be blogging there.

Cheers!

Good times ahead?
01.16.06 (4:42 pm)
I'm watching all these changes unfold before my eyes and it all looks good. Except that I think the table width on the templates need to be fixed. I'll wait a while before I message the administrator. It has been one of those weekends but I have survive. My broadband at home is still rat piss so I'll be filing a complaint. I finally have a plot for chapter 4 of my book. It takes some time for me to formalize the ideas. It also shows that I tend not to work with a fix deadline. It's not good and it is something that I have to work on. Hard to organise things when you don't have deadlines. Cheers!

Good to be Bad
01.12.06 (1:54 am)
I can relax. Last night, I flexed my finger muscles with a round at Need For Speed : Most Wanted. Nothing really great about it since the style is more or less Underground with police cars.

Yes, it feels so good to be the bad guy. This seems to be the prevailing theme of most games. God of War, Shadow of the Colossus, NFS, etc, etc; in all these games you play the anti-hero. A bad guy with heart...James Dean?

I've completed almost 80% of the tweaks in The Malaysian Billboard. Even during tweaking, I had ideas. Ideas which I'll slowly incorporate into the site. The main problem is focus. Every website needs focus, something that a friend highlighted to me. When there is focus then you'll attract a certain crowd. It is this crowd that will become the community that drives any website. So sometime this week, I'll go back to the drawing board.

Wifey birthday is coming up so I slipped her present into her handbag. Now with butterflies in my tummy, I'm waiting for her response. Funny, she has not called me at all today....hm....and she complains that I am not romantic.

Cheers!

Streamyx my foot

I'm using whatever bandwidth that I can squeeze out of this line to give the only ISP provider in Malaysia the finger.

I've been sitting here admiring how fast their so called broadband service is trickling by. I am suppose, SUPPOSE, to be running along at 1Mbps...thats a lot of cow-droppings to count.

Being a devout Christian, I am trying my best not to swear. Its not good especially around my son and lightning will strike my head, if not my PS2.

My good friend's 512K line, which is half the cost of what I am paying for; is so,so,so,so much faster. So what's the deal here? I am not getting my monies worth and I am not the only one.

I've checked with some postings on various local forums, it seems that this problem is a common problem. The weird thing is some get it, some don't. It's like some dude over at TMNet throws dice and decides which IP number gets the slow connection. Those that are deemed low-usage users are offered slower IP ranges (60.XXX.XXX.XXX range) whereas those that have greater usage get the elusive 218.XXX.XXX.XXX range. Sounds unfair since everyone is paying the same rate but getting double standard service.

Funny thing is, when I last checked, my iBook is on the 218 range. So, by right my connection speed should be fast. So why is my connection speed slower than a rat urinating?

Haiya, like that old-chinaman at the coffee shop; I can only throw my hands into the air and proclaim, "What to do?". Where else can I go? Jaring Broadband? The rival ISP takes its line from TMNet so back to square one. All because the first name is different does not mean that the surname is any different - whatever?

I hope that TMNet will not sponsor any form of communication package for the Malaysian Astronaut program. You might just get a time-out in space.

The Malaysian Billboard
01.10.06 (2:24 am)
It's alive! ALIVE!

My latest pet project is ALIVE! Must be pronounced with a slight Scandinavian tone, think Igor

Friends, family and critics head over to my latest project The Malaysian Billboard. It's a place where views, opinions, thoughts, ideas and your words are accepted.

Registration is Free!
Yes, you need to register in order to post articles. Think of it as an independent newspaper where all members are journalists. Think the Lone Gunmen from the X-Files series.

You don't have to be Malaysian to join. No, as long as you want to start posting, you are all welcome to join.

The Name...name...

I've already got comments from friends that the name is horrible but my mistake. All the names I wanted are taken, so out of pure desperation I got this one. Besides it was free but I have to pay for hosting. The site will be donate-ware, I will depend on the kind merciful hearts of my Malaysian friends to keep the site running.

Okey, it's a way for me to also fund my book and pay the bills - there...happy? Will I be rich from this venture? No but we'll all have fun along the way. In the mean time, I will still maintain this blog. I still need a place to complain about everything else under the sun, including the stress of managing The Malaysian Billboard.

Cheers!

Rotring CORE Eternium Fountain Pen
01.05.06 (12:23 am)
A couple of weeks back, sometime before Christmas I lost one of my favourite pens, a transparent LAMY fountain pen. It's been with me for a couple of years and has served faithfully, signing my documents, cheques and writing stuff. For the life of me, I just cannot remember where I put it. I have since given it up as being lost and started to look for a replacement.

Choosing a pen is an art in itself. You need to find one that balances well in your hand. Not too small and not too big. I prefer a big pen as I can grip it better and there is no fear of gripping it too hard. It has to be smooth and glides effortlessly across paper.

There is nothing more frustrating then to have your fountain pen getting stuck in mid-writing. Paper fibres are, in most cases, the culprit. It is so easy for a poorly crafted nib to dig out the fibres from the surface of the paper and gather it into a ball, much like a fur ball.

Today, after much searching and window shopping (both online and offline) I purchased a Rotring Core Eternium Fountain Pen.

It's a nice orange tone. It's bright, a giant of a pen and will definately turn heads; hopefully I will not miss-place it. Further more it is not your traditional looking fountain pen. Nope, it makes me look young...ignore the pun if you feel like vomiting.

I chose the XL nib since I prefer my letters bold and large as opposed to thin, hairline letters. It currently takes in catridges but there is a converter available for those who prefer a pump system. I would prefer a pump system but the converter will cost me almost a third of the price of the actual pen. So I'll stick to the catridge system...for now.

I predict in the near future that writing will be an art form rather then a necessity, since everyone now types.

I promise to be nice.
01.03.06 (10:34 pm)
I have an office meeting in five minutes. I promised my department administrative manager to be nice and not scream or shout at anybody. I promised to be at good behaviour since Insane-Girl is going to be there. I know that my office mate D will also keep quiet.

Why would we keep quiet when now would be a perfect time to start screaming and shouting at each other?

I do not want to be responsible if Insane-Girl decides to become SuperGirl and jump off a building. Well, it would save the world if she did but then she might pollute the environment. Now I also do not want to be responsible for that.

So, God help me as I now am about to walk into the first office meeting for 2006. May my words be wise and that my actions reflect all the goodness in my heart.

God, I need help.

PayPal? Not my pal.
01.02.06 (9:04 pm)
I've given up on PayPal. PayPal does not recognize Malaysian bank accounts. Thus, we are unable to withdraw money directly from USA to Malaysia. Some Malaysian base eBayers have sent email to them but till today their stand is the same - no direct withdrawal to Malaysian accounts.

So I've switch to StormPay which at least have some facilities for withdrawing money from a Malaysian ATM via their Debit Card.

So goodbye PayPal...besides I've also forgotten my password to login into PayPal. :-)

Black Metal or Black Mental
01.02.06 (7:53 pm)
Malaysian media is at it again. Now the target is Black Metal fans. In recent weeks the Black Metal movement has been taking blows from the authorities. Concerts have been raided and fans hauled to t he stations for questioning.

But yesterday some of the fans spoke out claiming that the media are using them as scape-goats to explain away all the social-ills that are hitting Malaysia.

Full details on this saga here.

By the way, though I am no fan of Black Metal; I do agree that people should be allowed to enjoy what they want to hear but only when they start calling up fire from hell, then you lock them up.

Money Making Ideas
01.01.06 (5:53 pm)
The first day of work for 2006 is actually...tomorrow!

Today is a holiday, since new year fell on a Sunday. Managed to do some brainstorming on ideas to make money for the coming year.

Several reasons as to why I need to have a second income;

1) I need to finance my book, printing cost are high.

2) Wifey wants a house, living with my parents has to end someday,

3) I want to be financially free, living off my pay (civil servant) is really not exciting,

4) Second baby due in May, cost of raising children has sky-rocketted over the past year. I heard that things will not be better this year. Prices will still go up while my pay stays the same.

So I've ding-donged a couple of ideas, paid good money buying reading material from fellow Malaysians - who are earning gold-bars off the internet and I've come up with a game plan. Made some phone-calls and hopefully by the end of this week something will start running. I won't say it yet since its not up yet but when it does go online I'll post the idea here.

Today, I'm going notebook hunting for wifey. She needs a notebook for her school work. So we'll be heading over to a shopping mall near home which happens to be the IT centre for this city. I'm keeping my mind focus on getting her a notebook and nothing for myself. God help me.

Cheers!

2006 - A Year Older
01.01.06 (2:07 am)
HAPPY NEW YEAR!

What's the weirdest way to start a new year?

For me, getting a jab.

Yup, last night I ended up sitting in a hospital getting a jab. I cut my left foot's big toe on a rusty drain cover while preparing to give my dogs the new year eve dinner left-over. Initially I thought I just bump my foot but when blood started adding color to my floor, I knew things were bad. My dad bundled the toe and drove me to a hospital to get a jab.

I thought I had foot problems that night. The guy who went in before me, twisted his ankle at a new year eve dinner. Worst still he was the master of ceremony. Last I saw him, he was on a wheelchair being wheeled back to the dinner to start off the count down.

So here I am sitting with a big toe that is wrapped with small plasters. I'm in pain but it's bearable. Great way to start a new year but at least something to remember it by. Hopefully, in pain I start the new year but in laughter I will end it.

Cheers!
